The light blue building with wave-shape architecture is The National Art Center in Roppongi, Tokyo. The glasses slightly change its light and shadow based on the sun, just like surrounded by beautiful sea waves. The inspiration of the architecture was from the mountains and sea of the nature. The vision effect from these amazing glasses just like real sea waves, perform the art and beauty together with surroundings and green park.
The center of the main hall have two floors in concrete and inverted cone, designed in high-ceiling space. "Brasserie Paul Bocuse Le Musee" is a 3-stars Michelin restaurant in third floor, "Salon de The Rond" Cafe in second floor is the art museum corporates with World-famous magazine Vogue. Well-designed high-ceiling and lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere for the cafe shop, with excellent view while you having your meal or cup of coffee.
The Art Center is free of entry, and easy access for everybody to enjoy art and design of architecture. The exhibition area designed to be in the back side of the museum in order to avoid the directly sunshine and it is the biggest museum out of top 5 exhibition centers.
The National Art Center does not have its own permanent collection, instead choosing to hold special exhibitions only. Apart from world class collections, others are hold by Artist Associations or organizations with a national membership base are given opportunities to hold their annual exhibitions。The Center lays emphasis on collects, disseminates and provides art related information, and makes it accessible to the public.
Designer chairs places in basement area which offers a relaxation and warm perception. Visitors are able to take a break, chatting or relaxing in the area. Except the art works inside the building, the architecture itself also an powerful and vitality piece of art work which designed by Kisho Kurokawa.
【Profile of Architect】
The architect of the museum designed by Kisho Kurokawa(1934 – 2007) who borned in Nagoya and graduated in degree of Kyoto University. He was learning architecture with famous architect Tange Kenzou.
