What is Soba?
Soba is the Japanese name for buckwheat and belong to Fagopyrum esculentum which is an ingreident supply. It features a unique triangular shape, the stem is up-straight with outer cover a hull. The seed can be grind into powder after removed the outer hull, and the powder can use for buckwheat noodles or buckwheat tea. Buckwheat hull can also use for pillow filling and seating pad, especially Japanese likes pillows made by buckwheat hulls. Buckwheat is also a ingredient substitution for producing food and beer, as well as buckwheat ice-cream without dairy products.
In addition, “soba” is the same pronunciation and sound as “side”, so soba noodles were often given to neighbors when moving into a new neighborhood as a present in Japanese culture.
