TOKYU PLAZA GINZA is the place to eat! SUKIYABASHI-SABO’s creative Japanese cuisine will leave you smacking your lips!

TOKYU PLAZA GINZA is a spectacular new shopping center that only opened recently, on March 31, 2016. As the largest commercial facility in Ginza, you’ll find thirteen floors of high quality clothing, misc. goods, restaurants, and inner-city duty-free shopping at your disposal! And with the exterior and part of its interior having been designed to look like Edo kiriko, Tokyo’s famous traditional cut glass, you can enjoy it from inside and out.

The eye-catching 27-meter-high atrium floods light into the 6th floor’s KIRIKO LOUNGE. I headed to SUKIYABASHI-SABO for lunch to see what all the hype was about.

Modern creative cuisine supervised by the executive chef of Ginza’s famous Mutsukari restaurant, Mr. Akiyama. While you can choose from a selection of four different meals from the lunch menu, this is not as easy as it sounds: each dish looks to die for!

While the red wine-cooked rice of the “Modern Beef Rice Bowl” was extremely intriguing, I decided to go with the first item on the menu this time, the “Jellied Vegetables.”

The colourful seasonal veggies suspended in jelly looked like jewels in a treasure chest. It was simply elegant. And I would expect no less from a Ginza restaurant. The meal included the jelly, 3 types of bread, salad, and soup for an affordable 1,350 yen. What a great deal! I must say, however, the charcoal bread was a personal favourite.

I urge you to try the “Sabo Three Sweets” plate if you’ve come for tea time. It features one of Mutsukari’s famous—and exclusive—white macarons as well as two other tasty treats. Add 300 yen to the price to enjoy a drink with it.。

Let’s not forget the atmosphere; it certainly deserves special mention! High ceilings and glass all around make this spot relaxing, exciting, and a great place to take in the cityscape.

SUKIYABASHI-SABO was a lovely place to enjoy lunch, but I’m sure dinner while looking out over the city lights would be equally delightful!

In addition to running an IT consulting firm, I spend my lunch hours scouring the nearby Ginza area for the best places to eat.
