(3) Special version “ Greetings used amongst young Japanese, casual ways of greeting”
Young Japanese really want to appear “cool” and so they enjoy greeting each other in “cool” ways.
The older generations may become incensed and say “what kind of greeting is that!?” But these greetings are commonly used amongst young people, so I’ll introduce them as well.
Among close friends, “wissu”, “ussu” or even worse, “yo” are used instead of saying
“Ohayou gozaimasu” or “Konnichiwa”.
I know these greetings sound rough and lazy compared to beautiful traditional greetings.
By the way, I’m in my 30’s so I use them often＾＾；
“wissu” Hello
“ussu” Hello
“chissu” Hello
“yo” Hello
They are mainly used amongst the teens-30’s age groups. These kinds of greetings are affected by trends and personal preferences.
*Attention! If you use them with older people or someone you are meeting for the first time, you will definitely leave a bad impression, so don’t even try them. You don’t want to be labeled as “Rude”.
If you use them with family members or friends, no problem!
