Located at the tip of the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture, Toyohama faces the Ise Bay.
Blessed by the bounty of the sea, this port is famous for its storied summer festival. Known as Tai Matsuri, this festival is held to pray for a good catch and safety on the seas.

A giant red snapper (Tai in Japanese), weighing about 1 ton and measuring from 10 to 18 meters high, is made of a bamboo and wood frame which is wrapped in white cotton. As the festival approaches, young people carry it on their shoulders, parading the fish around town to the sea.
On the evening of the 20th, a fireworks show will be held at Toyohama Fishing Port.
